The Trigger Respected the Crown

The only thing on her to-do list was joy.

Not proving.
Not explaining.
Not rehearsing imaginary arguments in the shower.

Joy.

So when opposition showed up with a little attitude, a little tension, a little invitation to abandon herself—

she noticed it.

And kept sipping her borage.

Because somewhere along the way, she learned something delicious:

Not every trigger deserves a reaction.
Some triggers need to meet the woman you became.

And this one?

Respected the crown.

She didn’t chase the misunderstanding.
She didn’t clear her name for people committed to misreading it.
She didn’t donate her afternoon to somebody else’s emotional weather.

She had plans.

Beautiful ones.

Plans involving peace.
Good tea.
A soft jaw.
A gorgeous nervous system.
And absolutely no unnecessary meetings with nonsense.

Because babe, once a woman learns how expensive her attention is, she stops spending it like loose change.

She becomes selective.

Not cold.

Curated.

There’s a difference.

She can feel the irritation without becoming it.

She can notice the shade without stepping under it.

She can let somebody perform an entire one-woman show called Trying to Get a Reaction Out of Her—

and decline the audition.

That is power with perfume on.

And no, darling.

She doesn’t spill tea.

That would be wasteful.

She pours it slowly.

Lets it steep.

And while everybody else is busy swapping versions of the story, she stays rooted in what actually happened.

She controls the narrative by controlling herself.

Not by manipulating perception.

Not by running around correcting every whisper.

By refusing to let somebody else’s behavior decide who she becomes next.

That is the crown.

Self-command.

Discernment.

The ability to say:

“You may have brought the trigger, babe.
But you do not get access to the throne.”

So today’s agenda remains unchanged:

Protect the peace.
Follow the pleasure.
Choose the beautiful thing.
Stay unavailable to nonsense.

And should opposition circle back looking for another performance?

She’ll be exactly where she left herself—

soft jaw, open heart, crown intact.

Because joy was the assignment.

And darling,

she understood it perfectly.
